As this political season has ramped up, my wife and I have been assaulted by an increasing number of robocalls on our home phone. Right around dinner time, the phone starts ringing. Honestly, we get about four or five in the span of an hour. And they’re so doggone annoying. If we just let the answering machine pick up, we’ll hear a fast-talking voice booming from the speaker, telling us why the opponent of whichever candidate ordered the call is such a total schmuck. So one of us has to go in, grab the phone, switch it off, then play and erase the message left by the robot.
I haven’t even been able to get the campaigns to cancel the calls to my house! When I’ve called the contact numbers on the candidates’ websites, I’ve gotten nothing but recorded messages. I’ve left messages on their voice mail, but these have had absolutely no effect. If anything, I’ve been getting more robocalls than ever!
All this brings one thought to mind: do these idiots really think robocalls work? The fact that they’re using them makes me suspect they think so…but I’ve got news for them. ROBOCALLS DO NOT WORK! All they do is tick me off in a big way and guarantee that I will never vote for whoever ordered up those calls! Down with robocalls! There ought to be a law against them! See you soon!
