Not Writing Yet!

May 15, 2010

One of my goals for this weekend is to start writing fiction again.  I’ve been going through a time in which I’ve been doing everything but writing…and most of what I’ve been doing has been vitally important in one way or another, even important to the writing career.  But not writing is not the same as writing, no matter how you slice it.  So I’ve been determined to get started on the next writing project on my to-do list, whatever the cost.  And guess how much writing I’ve done today?  Zero.

It’s not like I haven’t been doing important stuff today, that’s for sure.  I had to get a headlight replaced on my car…then mow and trim the lawn…clean up the yard…go to the store…etc.  Next thing I know, poof, the day’s gone.  So hopefully, on Sunday, I’ll get my butt in the chair and start chugging again.  Even if all I put down on paper is a few hundred words, I’ll be happy.  Because the other work in life is well and good, but there comes a time when a writer has to get down to the writing work at hand.  And that time is now.  Ahora, amigo!  See you soon!
