Stitches Are Out!

February 22, 2009

As you might recall, two Thursdays ago, I tore open my finger while fiddling with a furnace cover and needed five stitches.  Well, my wife and I stopped at the emergency room after church today and had the stitches removed.  Not a moment too soon, either!  The finger had healed around them, and every time the stitches touched something, they hurt like crazy!  There wasn’t anything wrong; the stitches were just pulling on the healed tissue with all its regenerated nerve endings.  It sure made typing a challenge sometimes.  But now the stitches are out, and I can hopefully move on to the next exciting chapter of my daily adventure, whatever that will be.

On the writing front, I did get my 1200 words today, as hoped, and I’m looking forward to hitting that new daily goal in the week ahead.  It could be difficult, especially tomorrow, when our trusty contractor is coming by to give us some estimates on some work, and Tuesday, when we’re going out to dinner with a writer friend and his girlfriend.  Not sure how I’m going to psych myself up to jam the daily goal in spite of losing several hours of productivity out of two nights this week…but I have to find a way.  That’s all there is to it.  I want to finish the book in time for the May workshop in Oregon, and I can only do so if I hit the 1200-word goal every day through April 15.  Wish me luck!  I know it helps!

And now, it’s time for the travel photo of the day.  This one’s a shot of me with the Big Ben clock tower in London, England in 1992.  That was an incredible trip, one of my favorites.  There were ten of us in a van, scooting around the country, and we covered the highlights of England, Scotland, and Wales.  I’d love to go back there someday; I know Wendy wants to make that trip, as well.  I hope things work out and circumstances permit us to get there, because it’s a remarkable place.  Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
