My Dinner With Bill

February 24, 2009

One of the coolest things about being a fiction writer is getting to know other writers.  As a rule, fiction writers are an interesting bunch…and Bill Keith is in the top percentile.  Bill is the author of 85 novels under a variety of pen names.  (That’s right, 85!)  Currently, a thriller he wrote with Stephen Coonts, titled Deep Black: Arctic Gold, is on the New York Times mass market paperback bestseller list!  (It was #18 at last count.)  Bill and his partner, Brea, live near my wife and I, just twenty minutes away.  We get together every now and then at our local Mexican restaurant, Rey Azteca, which is always a blast.  Bill and Brea are super-interesting people with a wide range of interests…members of Mensa, practitioners of reiki, and all-around fonts of arcane knowledge.  We had dinner with them tonight, and we had a great time.  Not only are they good friends, but we learn so much from them about writing and publishing every time we get together.  It’s great getting to talk to someone who’s so far ahead on the path, someone who has seen it all and is succeeding.  Be sure to check out Bill’s website right here for more information on his career.  You can find his book here on Amazon.

Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for:  another travel photo from the archive!  This time, it’s a photo of me at the Roman Coliseum in Italy from 1997.  See you tomorrow!
