There’s a query letter I just can’t seem to get right. I’ve reworked it many times, most recently last week, but it still feels weak. Now, I’m certainly no expert on queries (as I have yet to sell a novel or enlist an agent through the use of one), but I sometimes have a feel for these things…and this one is just not there yet. Today, I thought I had a breakthrough, a fresh angle that would turn it around, but it still hasn’t caught fire yet. Maybe tomorrow, the spark will ignite, and I’ll finally nail that letter. It would be nice. After all, I wrote the novel it’s based on back in 2005. It would be sweet to get the letter right and get some nice editor to ask to see the full manuscript. I think the novel itself is solid, it’s gotten lots of good comments from trusted sources, and I’d love to get it out there. Like I said, maybe I’ll get it tomorrow.
Now for today’s photo. This one’s from The Old Country, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. The year is 1980. That’s me on the left in my homemade Star Trek t-shirt from art class (can you say “geek?”); then my grandmother, Henrietta Jeschonek; my mother, Marge; and my brother, Scott. Seems like a century ago, doesn’t it? See you tomorrow!
