I have fewer than 10,000 words left to write on my 100,000-word novel, so the fight is on! Somehow, I have to hit all the marks, answer all the questions, resolve all the conflicts, and wrap up the loose ends in a mere 10,000 words. I’ve set things up so this should be possible without rushing or overloading with exposition, but it will still require a great deal of control. In the middle of a novel, I can let things roll along, developing at a more leisurely pace (within reason), but at the end, I have to keep everything marching smartly forward. It’s an interesting change from my writing in this novel to this point…a challenging exercise. Fingers crossed that it works out the way I want it to. Or should I say in the way that’s best for this novel.
Now for today’s photo. This one is a shot of Wendy and me at Niagara Falls in May 1999. I’ve been there at least four times, and it’s a heck of a beautiful place. Also all full of tourists, of course. Check out the black and white photography. Cool, huh? See you tomorrow!
