Remember when I was singing my wife’s praises the other day? When I wrote about how supportive she is of my writing and how she helps in myriad little ways to clear my schedule for composition? Well, she’s proving to be even more helpful than I ever imagined. Today, I was struggling with a plot problem in the current novel, and I was having trouble sorting it out. Now, in the past, I’ve never discussed works in progress with my wife (or anyone!), because of fear that the creative process would be compromised. Today, though, I threw caution to the wind and talked about my plotting issue with Wendy. It turns out she was extremely helpful! Between the two of us, we worked through the knotty problem I faced and came up with a solution. So now I know I can turn to her for help with brainstorming issues related to my fiction! And there were no resulting aftershocks that upset the applecart of my creative process! My only regret is that I didn’t work with her like this long ago. It could have saved me a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and revisions.
Now for today’s photo. This one’s a shot of Wendy and me reenacting the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. See you tomorrow.
