Just finished watching the 5-part BBC mini-series Torchwood: Children of Earth…and wow. What. A. Show. What an incredible story from start to finish. For five solid hours, the team behind this great series kept me mesmerized. Right up till the last half-hour, I had no clue where the story was going or how they were going to end it. This series had one dynamite action scene after another, one high-stakes surprise after another. I highly recommend it, even if you’re only a little interested in science fiction…unless you can’t get past the hero of Torchwood, Captain Jack Harkness, being bisexual. But if you don’t give this show a try, you will be missing out on a hell of a piece of entertainment. Torchwood, which has been on the BBC a few seasons now, is like The X-Files, only much edgier…and Children of Earth, now available on DVD, rocks in a way that few current U.S. TV shows ever manage. So track down Torchwood: Children of Earth, sit back with a cold one, and enjoy one of the most intense thrillers you’re likely to see anywhere this year. And no, I don’t get a kickback from the BBC for this plug. Enjoy! And see you soon!
