My wife and I watched the great Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski yesterday. Wendy saw it for the first time, and I saw it for the first time in a long time, so I’d say it was really fresh for the both of us. We had an awesome time and watched it from start to finish in one evening, which is unusual for us. What a great film! It holds up so well, though it’s over 10 years old already. Really the total package of weird comic genius and filmmaking mastery. What’s freaky, though, is that the viewing set strange wheels in motion. Tonight, at our favorite Mexican restaurant, someone at the next table overheard us and went into a spiel about being a huge fan of the film. Later, Lebowski was the correct answer to a question on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Okay, so that’s just two things…and the first one doesn’t really count as anything, because the guy just overheard us talking…but still! It’s fun to believe in the power of deja Dude, in which echoes of Lebowski ripple through your day, set in motion by a viewing of the film. “The Dude abides,” as they say. See you tomorrow!
