Tonight, the series-ending two-part finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA kicks off on the SciFi Channel. In fact, it’s airing as I write this…and my VCR is taping it for me to watch tomorrow. Why wait, when it’s something I’m dying to see? As usual, you can blame it on the writing. I had such a busy day today, I didn’t get to go near the fiction writing till tonight…didn’t even start it till 7:50 p.m. It took me till almost midnight to get my Daily Grand, a goal I wasn’t about to miss two days in a row. After all, I took Thursday off completely to have a few drinks with my pals from work. It was critical that I got writing again today, picking up the threads from where I’d left off Wednesday, setting the tone for a productive weekend (and weeks to come). So I put my nose to the grindstone and got the job done. And you know I’ll be watching GALACTICA on tape tomorrow morning! I truly can’t wait to see how they wrap up such a fantastic series…not just a great science fiction show, but a fantastic ensemble drama. Will the fugitive humans survive and find some kind of home? Will the Battlestar itself fall apart around them? Who is the “Daniel” model Cylon? Who is Starbuck, really? The writers and producers have left lots of great questions, and I’m psyched beyond belief to see how they answer them.
Meanwhile, here’s another travel photo. Set the Wayback Machine for 1979 for this one! It’s a shot of me, my brother Scott, and my mother, Marge, in Clearwater Beach, Florida. We went there a couple of times when I was a kid, and those trips really gave me my love of travel. I used to pack up my little Matchbox carrying case as if it were a suitcase, loading up comic books and action figures and all kinds of necessities for the long drive down south. Back then, of course, Clearwater was a lot more laid back, even charming. I’d like to go back someday, but maybe I shouldn’t spoil those great memories. Anyway, this photo is a tribute to the finale of GALACTICA! How, you might ask? Well, take a close look at my t-shirt, which salutes the original 1978-79 Lorne Greene/Dirk Benedict/Richard Hatch TV series…BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! Holy frak! How cool is that? See you tomorrow!
