My super-hero story, “Forced Retirement,” has gone live at A Thousand Faces, The Quarterly Journal of Superhuman Fiction. You can read it right here, on the Thousand Faces website. I hope you’ll also order a printed copy of the journal, available here from Lulu.com. It’s a wonderful collection of super-hero stories from a great roster of writers, including the one and only Cat Rambo, editor of Fantasy Magazine. As a long-time comic book and super-hero aficionado, I think it’s great that we have an actual journal dedicated to super-hero fiction with a wide range of styles and viewpoints.
“Forced Retirement” asks what might happen if the world’s greatest super-hero came down with Alzheimer’s disease. Mayhem ensues, of course, but the story explores some real world issues along the way. I think you’ll get a kick out of it, and I hope you’ll check it out.
I also hope you’ve been enjoying the new features on The Fictioneer. I’ve had a lot of fun with the new editions of Pot Luck Theater and The Flog, and I’m planning to keep them going (if possible, schedule permitting) for the forseeable future. So you can look forward to a new Flog every Monday and a new Pot Luck Theater every Friday. Post a comment sometime and let me know what you think! See you soon!
