Ready for Reentry

February 15, 2009

As feared, I did return from my long weekend break in Erie, and now face the prospect of starting a new work week.  It could be a rough reentry tomorrow, as the weekend was pretty hectic and exhausting…but it’ll also be good to get rolling again on some critical tasks that have been put on the back burner.  I’m also looking forward to cranking again on the new novel.  The calendar says it’s time to start up a new streak, so streak I shall!  It does feel a bit intimidating, of course; anytime I step away from a big project, it’s scary thinking about starting it up again.  But I like this new novel so much, and I’m so excited about writing it, that I also can’t wait to pick up where I left off.  It’s interesting, because novels take on a life of their own; beyond a certain amount of pre-planned plotting, I’m never sure exactly how they’re going to develop.

Anyway, I’m beat tonight, so I’ll leave you with some quick reminders about my latest publications.  My story, “The Wish of a Wish,” appears in Crime Spells, from DAW Books.

My essay, “Sympathy for the Devils,” appears in In the Hunt: Unauthorized Essays About Supernatural

And my article, “Final Authority,” appears in Star Trek Magazine #16.

All three are available now at a bookstore near you.   Crime Spells and In the Hunt are available via Amazon.  It’s great, having three very different projects available at the same time:  a piece of original fiction; an essay about a TV show; and an article about Star Trek.  At times like this, freelance writing is a lot of fun.

I hope you’ll check out my new publications.  See you tomorrow!
