Today was sunny and warm, a rare perfect Spring day in my hometown. I couldn’t bear to waste it, what with all the outdoor work on my to-do list, so I got out there and did what I could. Washed both cars (they really needed it!), dug out and cleaned up the patio furniture, put the winter tires for my wife’s car in the garage rafters, got out the chicken wire and staked it out around the vegetable garden. It was a very productive outdoors day, and it sure felt great getting outside for a change after all the cold, wet weather we’ve been having. Loved getting some sun, though I did get burned a little. Fresh air is always a good thing. And best of all, I still managed to work in the writing and get my daily grand for today. The current novel continues to move toward its conclusion. I have 5,000 words to go…five days, if all goes well…a few more, if I need a little elbow room. Have to keep that puppy rolling!
Now for today’s photo. This one’s a shot of Dad and me at the NASCAR Kmart 400 race at Michigan Speedway on June 11, 2000. I’m putting it up in honor of Dad, who I’ll be seeing in about a week for the first time in months. He and Mom are returning from Florida, where they’ve been spending some wintertime months. I can’t wait to see them both! See you tomorrow.
