Finally, we have an Indian restaurant within an hour’s drive of Johnstown! Wendy and I just checked it out today…Tandoor King in Altoona. And it is awesome! I make it a point to seek out Indian food whenever I’m traveling, so I have some idea what’s good, and I have to say this new place makes the grade. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s excellent and very authentic. I had chicken tikka curry plus nan plus a mango lassi drink and Indian ice cream for dessert…and I loved every bite. So did Wendy. Best of all, we don’t have to drive 2-3 hours to get there! It would be even better if it was in Johnstown, but at least it’s in striking distance. So many thanks to eagle-eyed Altoonan Tim Longwill for spotting this place in an obscure corner of a shopping plaza we would otherwise have had no reason to visit. And if you’re ever in Altoona, I highly recommend you stop by for lunch or dinner at the Tandoor King. Very, very delish. See you soon!
