An article of mine, “Neelix & Kes,” appears in the new issue of Star Trek magazine from Titan Publishing. The issue, dated March 2011 and numbered 32 in the U.S. (numbered 159 in the UK, where Titan is based) features “Star-Crossed Lovers” of Star Trek, in honor of Valentine’s Day season. If you’re of the Trek persuasion, check it out. My article focuses on Neelix and Kes, two characters from Star Trek: Voyager who had a romance of the alien variety, with more than its share of bizarre twists and turns. It was a fun piece to write and a nice way to keep my hand in the world of Trek. Back in the day, I wrote a number of Trek tales for Pocket Books, including a Star Trek: Corps of Engineers novella titled The Cleanup, which saw print last year in a volume called Out of the Cocoon. As much as I direct my energies toward writing in other fantastic worlds (including and especially the one in which we live), I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Star Trek, and will always enjoy writing about it in new and different ways. Here’s the cover of the new magazine, so you can spot it in your local bookstore or on the newsstand:
