Talk about nice surprises! A way-out science fiction story of mine, “Time, Expressed as an Entree,” has a new lease on life! The story originally appeared in Fiction River: Time Streams a while ago…and now it’s back! If you missed it the first time around, check out the reprint in the brand new collection Fiction River Presents: The Unexpected from WMG Publishing. The cover looks like this:
This anthology also features awesome stories by Kevin J. Anderson, Steve Perry, Ray Vukcevich, Dean Wesley Smith, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Joe Cron, Lee Allred, Louisa Swann, and David Hendrickson.
My story’s about a great beast that devours all time across parallel universes, until he meets up with a stranger in a strange reality, a woman from our own homeworld who’s been to hell and back–and has a thing or two to teach him about the true nature of the time he’s been gobbling up. As mentioned in the introduction to my story, I wrote it “to play with the nature of time itself, exploring the perception of time versus the reality of it.” I also wanted to pit a multi-cosmic, omni-powerful leviathan against an Earth woman and see who ended up winning the day. I hope you’ll check it out! I can tell you this much: the story–and the whole book–live up to the title The Unexpected.
You can order copies here from WMG…and here in paperback and here in e-book from Amazon.
